CA House

CA House overlooks Limehouse Basin Marina, at the gateway between the tidal Thames and the inland waterways, and lies between the business areas of the City of London and Canary Wharf. It can easily be reached by car, public transport, and boat. There are five cabins for members to say overnight, plus meeting rooms, offices for the Secretariat, a well-equipped Information Centre, and a franchised bar and catering facility.

Limehouse Basin was constructed in 1812. During WW2, the surrounding area was severely damaged but it has been completely regenerated with CA House and the neighbouring marina as its maritime focus. Direct access by lock to the River Thames and the sea is available for boats at most states of the tide and visitors by water are very welcome.

Members’ guests and visiting members of recognised yacht clubs are welcome to the Association’s premises subject to reasonable conditions.

Getting to CA House

The CA is sited next to Limehouse Basin in London's Docklands.

By Public Transport

If you are coming by public transport you need to get to Limehouse Station on the D.L.R. Click the box on the right to find out how.

From Limehouse Station on foot: Walk down the stairs and then down the steps ahead of you.  Turn left and left again, and walk along Ratcliffe Street.  At the end of the street, cross over the road ahead (Branch Road) and turn right (not down the Rotherhithe Tunnel!).  After the first block of flats, turn left through the courtyard.  The marina should be ahead of you.  Follow the path around the right-hand side of the marina, and continue past the octagonal building (the Lock Office).  Cross the Lock and turn left, and CA House is the brown brick building on your right.

By road

Brief instructions : When approaching on the A13 (travelling East from London or West to London) turn down Branch Road, by Limehouse DLR station.  Get into the left lane, and carry straight on, not down the Rotherhithe Tunnel approach road.  Turn left at the bottom in to Horseferry Road and then left on to Narrow Street.  Cross the bridge.  Northey Street is the first left after the bridge. Open Google Map.

Parking: Limited parking is available for members on business at CA House and those attending functions. Parking is on a first come-first served basis, but please collect a “Parking Permit” from the Reception office on arrival, and display it in your windscreen. Parking is controlled by National Parking Control. Outside of Mon-Fri 8:30-17:30, there is single yellow line parking in Northey Street.

Central London Congestion Charge: The standard daily central London Congestion Charge is £10.00 (0700 – 1800 Monday- Friday) payable in advance or on the day of travel. The congestion charge does not apply at weekends, on public holidays, designated non-charging days or between 18:00- 07:00. Conditions apply. For further information, go to the Congestion Charge website  or Tel: 0845 900 1234. CA House is not currently in the congestion charge area.

Taxi:  London Taxicabs (Black Cabs)  - ask for Limehouse Basin, Northey Street, off Narrow Street. The Secretariat has details of local minicab services.

Planning to visit London? CA Members visiting London and planning to use public transport on the buses and underground (including the DLR to get to CA House) are advised to find out about the Oyster Card which is the easiest and cheapest way to pay for travel in London. The cash on an Oyster Card does not expire. For full details, visit the website www.tfl.gov.uk or telephone 0845 330 9876.

By Sea:  From the Medway/Southend area, the passage takes about 5 hrs. It is essential for most sailing boats to take the tide. Entry to Limehouse Basin is via a bridge and lock.  Accessible HW +/– 3 hrs. between 0800 and 1800 hrs in the summer and 0800 and 1600 hrs in the winter. The max. draught permissible in the Basin is 2.5m. Call LIMEHOUSE MARINA on VHF Ch 80. Once inside the lock the marina (and marina office) are immediately to port and CA House immediately to starboard.
